The beginning

The first level course gets you from zero (knowing a few words through Duolingo and saying ‘ja’, ‘nee’ and ‘gezellig’) to really getting started. You will learn about verbs, pronouns, and sentence structures. Every week has a theme. You’ll learn the vocabulary for that theme and practice your dialogue skills in themed settings. After this course you’ll be able to produce the fundamentals of Dutch.

Hallo ik ben Mark en ik kom uit het mooie Emmeloord. Mijn vader komt uit Leiden. Hij is daar geboren. Hij heeft zijn hele jeugd in Leiden gewoond. Ik ben daar nog nooit met hem geweest. Volgend jaar willen we samen naar Leiden gaan. We kunnen oude vrienden van hem bezoeken. Dan moet ik heel lang naar al hun grappige jeugdverhalen luisteren, denk ik. Dat vind ik leuk. Ik hou van verhalen.
